Happy New Year to one and all. I hope it brings you contentment and fulfils all your needs.
I have some New Year's wishes for the bog too, but for now, I want to give a shout-out for our President, Eliza Olson.
Eliza has been the powerhouse of the Burns Bog Conservation Society since its early days. She has received numerous awards, such as the 2006 Earthday Canad'a Hometown Heroes award and the 2010 CBC's Canada's Champions of Change, but that's not what I wanted to focus on today.
Yesterday, Eliza sent out one of her 'Bog Bits' e-mails, praising and thanking all the volunteers and staff for the wonderful work.
But here's the thing.
Without Eliza's incredible energy and positivity, none of it would be possible, or at the very least, LITTLE of it would. Eliza soaks up new ideas, she lets us run with ideas that we have and welcomes them. And she really, truly believes in what we do here.
I'm telling you - if we could bottle Eliza's energy and sell it, we could easily achieve our cherished goal of an Interpretive Centre, in fact I reckon we could stop global warming and thus climate change in its tracks.
So, let's hear it for Eliza Olson - the Burns Bog Conservation Society's superstar and inspiration!
Go Eliza! Strength to Strength!!!
